Benefits and Rewards of Sending Salawat upon Prophet Muhammad ﷺ
Sending salawat (also called durood or blessings) upon Prophet Muhammad and his family is among the most beloved acts of worship in Islam. Allah Himself commands it in the Quran, the Prophet (ﷺ) encouraged it in many authentic hadith, and the reward is described as unlimited.
Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet. O you who believe, send blessings upon him and salute him with all respect.
Quran, Surah Al-Ahzab, verse 56One Salawat Earns You Ten from Allah
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said that whoever sends one blessing upon him, Allah sends ten blessings upon them, ten sins are forgiven, and ten degrees are raised in Paradise. This is among the most generous rewards mentioned in any hadith for a single act of worship.
مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلَاةً وَاحِدَةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا
Whoever sends one blessing upon me, Allah sends ten blessings upon him.
Sahih MuslimThe Closest Person to the Prophet on the Day of Judgment
The Prophet (ﷺ) also said that the closest of people to him on the Day of Resurrection will be those who sent the most blessings upon him. To send salawat frequently is to build closeness with the Messenger of Allah for the day when intercession is most needed.
أَكْثِرُوا الصَّلَاةَ عَلَيَّ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ
Send blessings upon me abundantly on Friday - it is a witnessed day attended by the angels.
Sunan Ibn MajahSpiritual and Worldly Benefits of Salawat
- Forgiveness of sins: Each salawat erases ten sins, polishing the heart and freeing it from the rust of forgetfulness.
- Acceptance of duʿā: Scholars relate that a supplication opened and closed with salawat is not returned without an answer. Salawat is a key to having your prayers heard.
- Relief from grief and anxiety: Reciting salawat in abundance brings the heart peace, dissolves worries, and opens the doors of relief.
- Intercession on the Day of Judgment: Closeness to the Prophet (ﷺ) on that day is earned through abundant salawat in this life.
- Increase in rizq and barakah: Salawat draws down divine blessings - in livelihood, family, and the affairs of daily life.
- Closeness to Allah: Since Allah Himself sends salawat upon the Prophet, joining this remembrance places you in noble company.
When to Send Salawat Abundantly
Hadith encourage extra salawat at specific times: Friday and Thursday night, when the angels record blessings; after the obligatory prayers; upon hearing the Prophet's name; at the beginning and end of any duʿā; and before and after sleep. Many Muslims also dedicate daily salawat for the intercession of the Prophet (ﷺ), or for the relief of the Imam Mahdi (peace be upon him).

How to Complete a Salawat Khatm with This Counter
A khatm of salawat means completing a fixed number of blessings - for example 1,000 salawat for a need, 14,000 for a particular intention, or a daily portion that adds up over weeks. Here is a simple way to do it:
- Make your intention: Before starting, set your intention in your heart - for the relief of a hardship, the healing of someone, the acceptance of a duʿā, or as an offering to the Prophet (ﷺ).
- Set a daily goal: Tap "Edit" on the goal card and enter the number you want to reach today. To complete 1,000 in ten days, set the goal to 100.
- Tap the circle: Each time you say the salawat in your heart or aloud, tap the circle. A gentle vibration confirms your tap on mobile.
- Use focus mode: For long sessions, tap the focus icon at the top to remove every distraction and keep only the counter on screen.
- Track your streak: The stats at the bottom show today's count, your best day, and how many days in a row you have practiced - helping you stay consistent.
